Terre Porziane Frascati Superiore 2024 $20 - Colli di Catone’s 2024 'Terre Porziane' is a quintessential Frascati Superiore, capturing the fresh, aromatic charm of the Roman hills. The nose is bright and floral, with notes of white peach, lemon zest, and acacia blossom, accented by a hint of green almond and wild herbs. On the palate, it’s light-bodied and crisp, with zesty acidity balancing delicate stone fruit and citrus flavors.
Warres Altano Douro Rosso 2022 $13 - Altano is produced by the Symington family, known for their long and distinguished history of producing premium Vintage Ports in the Douro. As a natural extension of their interest in and dedication to the Douro Valley, the Symingtons began producing Douro DOC table wines seriously in 1999. A lively, well-spiced red, with an appealing mix of brambly boysenberry, cherry, violet and blood orange peel flavors sculpted by light, taut tannins, ending with a minerally finish. Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca.
Ca' del Baio 2024 Barbera d'Alba "Paolina" Piedmont, Italy $21 - A wine of excellence, famous for its freshness on the palate with a very accentuated note of acidity typical of Barbera, while maintaining a nice softness in the mouth. Umani Ronchi "Podere" Montepulciano D'Abruzzo, Italy 2024 $15 - The Umani Ronchi version of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is intended to be an interpretation of this vine which aims to exalt its varietal characteristics and its freshness, combining these qualities with just the right amount of charm and softness. Robust and full-bodied in the mouth, slightly tannin-rich with a dry and flavourful finish. Delicate aromas of plum and morello cherry.
Saint-Galet Châteauneuf-du-Pape, France 2023 $29 $25 - Aromas of ripe red and black fruits such as kirsch, raspberry compote, and warm plum, with notable hints of the region's famed garrigue and trailing notes of licorice, and cracked pepper. Borgo Scopeto Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, Italy 2015 $60 $40 - This is ripe and intense with exotic dark fruit, chocolate and highly toasted oak, but in a really exciting way. It’s full-bodied, round-textured and rich and flavorful at the finish. Brunello challenger here.
Capitain-Gagnerot Pernand-Vergelesses 2023 Burgundy France $56 $50 - If I could only drink Pinot Noir from Burgundy every day! Pernand-Vergelesses is tucked into the junction of two valleys among the hills of the Côte de Beaune. The nearby Hill of Corton stands guard over it and two other villages, Aloxe-Corton and Ladoix-Serrigny, harboring prestigious Grands Crus: Corton in red and Corton-Charlemangne in white. Pernand with its sloping site and steep streets has a smiling face.
Domaine Capitain-Gagnerot, www.burgundywine.com’s benchmark Burgundy producer, is a historic family estate dating back to 1802, now led by Pierre-François Capitain, who took over winemaking responsibilities in 2008 and represents the ninth generation of the family. Alongside his sister Delphine and their spouses, Pierre-François continues the family legacy, managing about 16 hectares of vineyards located primarily on the famed Corton hillside in Ladoix-Serrigny, near Beaune.
