Friday’s tasting will feature sparkling wines from around the globe! Stop by between 4 & 8pm for a $16 flight of bubbles.
Terra Serena Gran Cuvée Italy N/V $15 - The wine is bright straw yellow color with a slight greenish tint. Taste wine pleasant and harmonious, with notes of fruit - apples, pears and citrus.
Almacita Blanc de Blanc Argentina NV $19 - This hand harvested sparkling wine is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes from multiple vineyards within the Uco Valley. The nose is bursting with notes of peach, pineapple, mango, mandarin, and watermelon that lead into a bright and fresh palate laced with green apple and a touch of fresh baked bread.
Ca de Medici Lambrusco di Sorbara, Italy $20 - Lambrusco di Sorbara DOC takes shape in Remigio 101, made using the mono-fermentation technique from 100% Lambrusco di Sorbara flower must.
The maceration of the grapes on the skins after pressing is very short and this gives this Lambrusco its typical bright pink color. It is characterized by delicate and floral aromas, like rose and violet, that timidly give way to a distant aroma of strawberry and pomegranate.
Domaine Brazilier Brut Loire Valley, France $22 - The domain Brazilier is located at the heart of the Coteaux du Vendômois AOC, in Thoré-la-Rochette. The vines cover an area of 25 hectares and have been managed under sustainable values for many decades. Lemon, citrus and pear on the palate. Chalk, limestone and bright acid on the finish.
Eyrie "Spark" Brut Rosé Willamette Valley $22 - A truly unique blend of 8% Pinot Blanc, 55% Pinot Noir and 37% Chasselas Doré. Grape sources are 86% organically-certified & come from vines on Jory volcanic soils. Fermentation and aging occurred in a mixture of wood barrels and stainless steel. Taste: Medium to deep cherry-pink in the glass with aromas of cantaloupe, berries, and citrus along with some secondary notes of stone and toast. Pear and citrus rind develop on the palate over a structure of crisp acids and creamy fruit notes. An initial rush of exuberant bubbles is quickly followed by a soft effervescence. Slight astringency balances the richness from extended lees contact, and deftly carries the mineral finishing tones of blood orange and wild strawberries.
Bonus Wines
Schaller Cremant de Bourgogne Brut France $27 - A blend of Aligote, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Concentrated aromas of ripe pear and lemon, complemented by hints of honeycomb, toasted brioche, and delicate floral or mineral notes. The palate is crisp, vibrant, and medium-bodied with fine, persistent bubbles.
Gramona Cuvee Aliances Corpinnat, Spain $39 - While this wine is made in the Cava region of Spain this wine is labeled as Corpinnat. Many sparkling wine producers in the region formed their own DO of Corpinnat that is based on higher standards than those of Cava. Organic farming, native grapes, long tirage and vintage wines. Brut La Cuvée Aliances is 63% Xarel·lo, 32% Macabeu and 5% Parellada from Corpinnat, Penedès. It was aged a minimum of 24 months on the lees (the bottle tasted had 34 months). Subtle tertiary aromas, pastry notes, lime, mandarin zest and grated apple open in the glass. The mousse is fine and lively, with an ethereal, dry palate that lingers with gentle autolytic complexity.
Inspiration 1818 Champagne, France $49 - Due to the already high prices in Champagne, the tariffs really did a number on them. I think the least expensive Champagne I currently have is $62 so I was glad to hear the 1818 was back in stock. This is a 2nd label of Billecart-Salmon made for restaurant's by the glass programs. It is composed of approximately 37% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Noir and 30% Meunier, and benefits from 70% of reserve wines. Expect a beautiful, crystalline golden hue with fine bubbles. It offers a fragrant nose of brioche, almonds, butter, and pears. On the palate, it is well-balanced with a crisp backbone, offering white flesh fruits, citrus, and a hint of pepper on the finish.
