Friday Night Flight May 2nd Cab Franc

The Flight

TintoNero Cabernet Franc Valle de Uco, Argentina 2022 $17 - I met Jeff Mausbach while on a trip to Argentina back in 2019 and the guy makes good Cabernet Franc. Sourced from the Los Chacayes district in Mendoza’s high altitude Uco Valley, this wine is meant to showcase the intensely floral and mineral style of Cabernet Franc in the Uco Valley’s high altitude, limestone-driven soils. Perfumed violet aromatics, bright red fruit flavors, supple texture, and a bright, mineral finish.

Fellow Wines Cabernet Franc Clarksburg, California 2020 $17 - The Fellow wines have been shop favorites since I bought the shop. Bright blue fruits and fresh jam followed up with bright acidity.

Vignobles du Paradis Chinon, France 2022 $19 - Lovely ruby color, violet aroma. Made from Cabernet Franc grapes grown on a clay-limestone hillside, this fruity and aromatic wine develops wonderfully,

Damian Lorieux Bourgueil Loire Valley, France 2020 $20 - Dark raspberry, dark berry, soil, some herbal notes. Medium body, medium acidity, nice tannic grip in the finish. More forward, early drinking style, but it's fresh and has bright fruit. Nice earthy, herbal notes mingle win the tannic finish.

Dorigo Cabernet Franc Veneto, Italy 2021 $21 - It might sound weird, but Cabernet Franc has been grown here for generations. A warm, soft, spicily aromatic wine that can be enjoyed at once, or aged in the cellar for many years.

Bonus Wines

Bernard Baudry 2023 Chinon Les Granges $22 - This is Loire Cabernet in its purest form, low in alcohol but high in perfume, which the Baudrys harness through low-intervention techniques like aging only in concrete and bottling unfiltered with barely any sulfur.

Durandiere Vielles Vignes Saumur, France Cabernet Franc 2022 $23 - This saumur has an elegant red colour with shades of black and purple and delivers a fragrant assortment of red and black fruits. As the nose develops, there are also more complex notes of toast and liquorice.

Division Wine Cabernet Franc Granit Mae's Vineyard, Oregon 2021 $40 - Applegate Valley AVA in southern Oregon. The palate delivers muddled, savory raspberry flavors, essence of pomegranate, and dense mineral notes.

Friday Flight 4 - 8pm $12 for a flight of 5 wines with 3 additional taste available for purchase.
